Story line
COLLABORATIVE PROCESS VISUALIZATION
Story Line™ is a simple and intuitive process tool designed to facilitate description, analysis, evaluation, and optimization of processes. It’s a flexible tool, which enables collaboration between different professions and perspectives. Story Line is particularly suitable for user-driven innovation processes.
PROCESSES ARE COMPLEX
In modern organizations, process flows becomes too complex all too quickly; from project steps and internal workflows to customer journeys and service designs. Often one loses the overview over resource flows, decision-making processes, knowledge flows, etc. Without an overview it is impossible to work effectively with process optimization. This includes: decreasing waste, streamlining decision-making processes, creating a better quality control, and designing new customer related service products.
OPTIMIZING PROCESS FLOWS
Story Line is a tool that enables users to map processes and to structure knowledge from different professions and users into a clear visualization. This creates the starting point for process optimization. Barriers in the flow and needs for resources become clear, and input from different stakeholders are gathered with Story Line as a common point of reference. Story Line opens the users eyes to challenges and possibilities in processes and forms the point of departure for creativity and innovation.
FROM COMPLEX TO IDEAL PROCESSES
Story Line, built much like a jigsaw puzzle is used for visualizing and analyzing processes. The pieces have pre-assigned roles, and are added to the game in order to gather knowledge and input in a long process chain. Story Line is a simple and intuitive tool, and only a minimal introduction is needed.
“We used Workz and Story Line in connection with a service-design project about the uniting of the emergency treatment service and the casualty department in our region. Doctors, nurses, and patients together mapped several complex courses of illness. They all clearly mapped how they experienced present processes, and where they could see the potential for innovation. Meanwhile they created a common cross-organizational understanding. Story Line was indeed an efficient tool for helping different professions and users in creating a common knowledge and understanding even though their prior perspectives were very different.“
